New Paltz CROP Walk 2009 Update
This year's CROP Walk was dedicated to the memory of Diana Dierks. Diana was a member of the New Paltz Society of Friends. We missed her dedication and commitment to the "Walk."
The 2009 New Paltz CROP Walk was held on October 18, 2009.
Registration Time: 1PM
Walk Began at: 2PM
This year (as a token entrance "fee,") we asked all participants to bring a canned or boxed food item for the food pantries.
Rain didn't dampen the spirits of the over 100 Walkers who participated in this year's New Paltz CROP Walk.
LIVE bag pipe music at registration provided by Ernie Shultis, set the tone for this worthy cause. "We Walk Because They Walk."
The WALK started under the tent from the former New Paltz Student Christian building, across SUNY Parking Lot #18. Up So. Manheim to Rte 299 (Main Street), down to the Wallkill Rail Trail and headed north to Wallkill Bridge. At the bridge there were refreshments with water and fruit provided by Robin's Warehouse and Hurd's Family Farm. Free ice cream cone tickets were handed out at bridge, provided by Stewart's Ice Cream.
The final totals are in and once again, we have
exceeded the total amount raised from the previous year. The Grand total raised is
$18,461.58. Hallelujah!! And because of YOU, 25% of total raised ($
4,615.40) will be going directly to local charities: 20% to Wallkill Food Pantry - $ 923.08 Since 1995
(when CROP started being computerized),
New Paltz CROP Walk has now raised over $137,000.
The New Paltz CROP Committee would like to thank all who
participated in any way.
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH! --- Adriana Havaner - Coordinator
